The agreement that provided for the sale of insipid land for the industrial pole for industrial structures dates back to 2009. At the time, Cinca reported the contract with the payment of 867,600 euros (20% of the total amount).
“For various vicissitudes” or by the Municipality as regards the establishment of the lot, or from Cinca, the purchase has been postponed, although the definitive realization of the business has not been set.
The ceramic company even communicated last March that intends to give up the land, requesting the return of advanced money.
The Cinca investment was considered a project of national interest (PIN), having motivated the extension of Eco Parque Empretersarial to accommodate the expected units. To date, 88% of the necessary installments have been influenced by the lot, which were acquired by the Municipality.
The Municipality believes that, given the demand for large lots, such as Polo B, which has an area of 453,500 square meters, there are still good expectations to proceed with the alienation.
The councilors of the PS abstained in the vote on the proposal to terminate the agreement, noting that the planned investment surrounded 300 million euros and provided for a thousand jobs, assigning responsibilities to the Chamber to “not be able to legalize the whole 45 hectares” in 15 years, considering that it is “more a serious failure” of the majority “.
In the reaction, the mayor, Diamantino Sabina, criticized the socialists for “lies and false conclusions”, removing the responsibilities in the decision of the Cinca linked to the decline of the company for the difficulties he has crossed, that is financially, and was even sold to an Italian fund. As for the other unborn investments (Ikea and Ineos), it attributed to the non -execution to “external factors”.
Edil has assured that in the last 12 years “Estorreja has consolidated as one of the most dynamic industrial and economic centers in Portugal”, with “significant investments” (over 30 new companies) which have generated 1200 jobs.
