10 essential events at the Guadalajara 2025 cultural festival

The Jalisco May Cultural Festival, which promotes cultural activities in the metropolitan area of Guadalajara, is back for its 28th year, with 400 events.
With Canada as a guest of honor, the festival will showcase everything, from classical music to Mariachi concerts, art exhibitions and facilities through contemporary dance shows and more. And wWith such a crowded cultural program, it will be difficult to choose what to see, so here is our list of the 10 remarkable cultural events to live at this year festival.
1. Contemporary dance: “Ontroulée Boi”
To launch the festival, Guadalajara will host the first Latin American of “reckless Underdog” of the famous choreographer Victor Quijada. The event promises an electrifying combination of urban dance and contemporary movement played by the famous Company Rubberband.

Throwing a backstage overview of how the installation “Echoes” was installed outside the Museum of Contemporary Art in Montreal in 2022, with an explanation of the work of art by its creator, the artist Mathias Gmachl.
2. ‘Echoes: Song of the Unknown’
Austrian artist Mathias Gmachl will explore the link between nature and technology thanks to an immersive experience in the Festival race. The installation of art in large format will boast of the life -size incarnation of a one -year blue whale, at the age when she leaves her mother to start exploring the ocean. The installation invites spectators to meditate on our relationship with the nature and evolution of the world climate.

3. Immersive marine experience

4. Exhibition: “living in the North”
The “resident of the North” exhibition brings together 10 Canadian artists, offering multidisciplinary experiences of humanity and living matter specific to life in Canada, stalking painting, photography, video and installations. This exhibition explores the forces, the climate and the history of the North, as well as its social, political and cultural conditions.

5. Brooks in concert
The Canadian Groovy music group The Brooks stops at the festival as part of its tour for their new album, “Rofy Ay I Can”. The group is known for its moving melodies and its deep funk rhythms.

6. Nawales Folk Ballet
Expect the color, music and traditional Mexican dance during this performance of Nawales folk ballet. The whole was born in order to professionalize Mexican folk performance and create an innovative group to promote Mexican culture and traditions through dance.

7. HUDU MAIR THEATER
One of the most anticipated events for this year’s festival children is the Hudu immersive show. With an immersive theatrical experience with live music, the show is also suitable for neurodivergenous people.

8. Mariachi nuevo Tecalitlán in concert
Mariachi, the most sensitive music in Mexico, will also be present at the festival with a Spere galaf starring guests Mariachi, including the sets of Mariachi New Tecalitlán, the little folk ballet New Jalisco.

9. Louis Lortie Piano Recital
To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the French composer, pianist and conductor Maurice Ravel, the famous Canadian pianist Louis Lortie will perform live. Lortie played with more than 70 orchestras in 25 countries.

10. Ravel homage by the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra
To conclude the festival, the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra will also give a concert celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of Maurice Ravel. The Spanish artistic director José Luis Castillo will head, with Louis Lortie as a guest pianist.
