According to AnVisa, the law provides for an annual price amendment to protect consumers from abusive increases, ensure access to medicines and maintain the purchasing power of the population. At the same time, the account developed by the law seeks to compensate for any losses in the pharmaceutical sector due to inflation and effects on production costs, allowing continuity in providing medicines.
If the consumer finds violations, it is possible to operate consumer protection agencies, such as Procons and the consumer platform. It is also possible to file a complaint directly to the CMED, through a model available on the Anvisa page.
CMED consists of ministries of health, home, justice, public security, farms, development, industry, trade and services. The National Health Monitoring Agency has the function of the Executive Secretariat, providing technical support for decisions.
