Services disorders due to current interruptions in Spain and Portugal

The main interruption of electricity in Spain and Portugal caused “disorders” in the Internet service and airports in Morocco, according to what announced the relevant authorities in the kingdom.
“We inform you, knowing that the internet disorder is due to a large electric interruption in Spain and Portugal, which has influenced international ties,” said Orange, one of the telecommunications companies in Morocco, in an advertising for its customers through its Facebook account. The two competing companies, the communications of Morocco and intelligence, have not issued any declaration in this regard.
In turn, the National Airport Office in the Kingdom has announced that “the recording system at the Airports of the Kingdom defines the ailments following the large electrical holidays that the Iberian Peninsula has known”. The office added in a declaration that “confirms the continuity of airport operations by adopting the manual method and invites travelers to check their flights by communicating with the airlines they transport before heading to the airport”.
In Algeria, the Ministry of Postal and Wireless transport announced on Monday afternoon the possibility of “Internet disorders (…) in the next few hours, given the general interruptions that have touched Spain and other European countries”. But he added in a Facebook declaration: “However, we would like to reassure you that preventive measures have been taken (…) to ensure the continuity of services for a specific period of time”.
The electric current was widely cut in Spain and Portugal, which led to the failure of mobile and internet networks and the arrest of the trains, announced the officials. The Spanish government is making incessant efforts to determine the source of the main current interruption.
In the nearby Portugal, the electricity company declared in a declaration that the entire Iberian peninsula was influenced by the interruption of electricity, adding that the interruption took place by noon. In recent years, other countries around the world have witnessed important current interruptions.
Tunisia witnessed a significant interruption of electricity in September 2023, in Sri Lanka in August 2020, in Argentina and Uruguay in June 2019. In Europe, electricity was interrupted in November 2006, to ten million people for an hour in France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy and Spain. This caused a malfunction in the German electricity network.
