In addition to freedom of expression, religious freedom, freedom of associations, holy respect for the physical and moral integrity of all citizens, and celebrating their diversity, and regardless of their origin, race, beliefs, sexual tendency, and modern democratic gatherings, they should be worthy of this noble appointment.
In these societies, the scientific method (not another!) Is the primary and necessary component of teaching and developing scientific knowledge.
In the constitution of the Portuguese Republic, in Articles 73 to 77, it is specifically mentioned that it is the state’s duty to ensure free teaching and the development of science as well as the duty to give it to everyone.
The development of science is not exclusive to democratic societies. For example, among many others, in the deceased Soviet regime, one of the most barbaric products in modern history, the first line in the world has flourished all over the world. If it is true that there may be scientific development without democracy, however, there can be no democracy without scientific development and without strict respect for the role of the scientific method in teaching and developing society in general.
In the case of the United States, it is also worth noting the huge dose of the mockery of the current political panorama. The current and future enrichment of some of the few surrounding the administration and its impact decisively depends on the continuous scientific and technological development. Is there a risk of scientific and technological progress in some areas that are monopolized by these interests, through progressive weakness and proposal for the academic scientific system?
