There will be the opening of the “Higher Maps Drawing” exhibition, by Mavalda Branko, on Friday, May 23By 15h00Na Pleasure.
The aforementioned show refers to the return of this young artist to the origin of Madirin to Madeira, what will be his first unilateral exhibition in the region. The project was coordinated by Márcia de Sousa and the opening of the second artistic season of the pleasure exhibition since its reopening to the public, in July 2024. In this project, Mafalda Branco explores the concept of housing, not only as a material occupation of space, but as a continuous construction process, where identity, memory and the relationship of the device. Between individual and collective memories, this project seeks to understand how spaces become a deposit of stories, experiences and emotions, and to reveal invisible layers that constitute our relationship with the environment in which we have introduced ourselves and thus to the world.
The exhibition can be visited, with free acceptance, until September 14, 2025. It is a joint organization of the Calita City Council, and the regional secretariat of the economy, tourism and culture through the Regional Directorate of Culture-Mouda. The Museum of Contemporary Art in Madeira and the Braintis Parachidi Church Factory.
