Carlos and Camilla received at the Quarinal Palace the second day of the state visit to Italy

King Carlos III and Queen Camila met with Italian President Sergio Mattarella on Tuesday, marking the second day of his state visit to Italy.
The royal couple was escorted to the palace by a group of more than 30 presidential guards, where they enjoyed a joint flight of the Italian frele Tricolori and the red arrows of the RAF.
After the meeting, Carlos and Camila traveled some of the most emblematic reference points of Rome, including the tomb of the unknown soldier in Piazza Venezia, where they deposited a crown.
They also enjoyed a special visit to the Colosseum, through the Venus Temple and the Roman Forum. There they met a group of children on a school sidewalk and were received by a multitude of enthusiastic sites and tourists.
“It’s very exciting because it is the first time I see them,” said Samuele Tassinari, 18, a student from Bologna. “We saw them before when they went to Quirinale, and then I saw them pass in their Bentley, the same they use in London. It was exciting.”
At the end of the day, the royal couple met with representatives of the British community in Rome, greeting the guests in the gardens of the British ambassador Villa Wolkonsky.
During the event, a military band played in the British national anthem, as well as several classic hits of the Beatles.
This Wednesday night, President Mattarella will organize a state banquet at the Quarinal Palace in honor of the British monarchs, which will coincide with the twentieth anniversary of the couple.
Carlos will also meet with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and will speak in a joint session of the Italian Parliament, a historical debut for a British monarch.
During his stay in Rome, Carlos will emphasize the strong ties between Great Britain and Italy, both NATO allies, at a time when European nations are reinforcing support for Ukraine in their fight against Russia.
The real four -day visit will also include a trip to Ravenna on Thursday, where the 80th anniversary of the city liberation by the Allied forces will be held. During this visit, they will celebrate the culinary heritage of the region and will be with local farmers affected by recent floods.
