Libyan politicians refuse to receive migrants who come from America
Libyan politicians have expressed their refusal to speak of “negotiations to receive migrants from the United States”. They assured the -sharq al -awsat that the authorities existing in Libya “do not have the legitimacy of the legitimacy of long -term contracts like this.”
According to the Wall Street Journal he mentioned US officials, Wednesday, the American administration is negotiating with countries in Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe to receive migrants from the United States.
The newspaper stressed that Washington is looking for countries ready to host these immigrants, especially in cases where their countries of origin refuse to return them or delay their reception procedures.
According to the same newspaper, relations indicate that the American administration has entered into interviews with countries such as Libya, Rwanda, Benin, Aswini, Moldova, Mongolia, Kosovo, where Washington should show financial or political incentives in exchange for the cooperation of these countries to receive the stage.
And the head of the “democratic civil party” in Libya, dr. Mohamed Saad Mubarak, he believes that the authorities in Libya “do not have the legitimacy of long -term contracts”. He refused, “to conclude any agreement on this in case of pressure or earnings”, noting that “also accepting immigrant workers to contribute to the reconstruction movement should comply with Libyan laws and national interest and not according to international agreements”.
For his part, a member of the “Supreme Council of State”, Belkacem Qazit, described these interviews (if in reality they were) as “inappropriate for the future of the country”. But he has not excluded at the same time to keep these negotiations between political leaders in Libya and the Trump administration.
In turn, the Libyan political analyst, Ayoub al -awjali, said that “the migrant file persecutes the West and the United States in search of alternative solutions closer to reality”, suggesting that the Trump administration will provide “economic temptations to the countries that are negotiated to maximize the benefits of immigrants”.
ASHARQ AL -WSAT tried to obtain an official declaration from the officials of the West and East Libya government on what has been raised, but has not received an answer.
Since 2014, Libya has undergone a political division and its authority has contested two governments: the first is the national temporary unit led by Abdel Hamid al -duba, which is based in Tripoli, and the second led by Osama Hammad, and manages the eastern region and some of the cities of the South.
It is interesting to note that the report of the American newspaper arrives in light of political and popular disputes on the settlement of irregular migrants, which was denied by the Libyan authorities by government officials.
In the middle of last March, the head of the “temporary” government of the national unity, Abdel Hamid al -duba, defended his government regarding the settlement file, denying “the presentation at any pressure or business in the immigration file”, and continued to say that “the safety and stability of the Libyan people is a red line”.
Official estimates indicate “the presence of over 3 million irregular immigrants within Libya”, according to the statements of the Interior Minister, al -wahda, IMAD Trabelsi, in mid -March.
