Tensions in Bosnia increased on Wednesday, after being informed that Bosnian State Security agents tried to arrest the Bosnian President of the Pro-Russian, but his armed police avoided.
Milorad Dodik, the president of the Bosnia Republika Srpska entity, faces a lawsuit due to its separatist policies. The Bosnian courts issued an arrest warrant to Dodik in March, after he did not attend to be interrogated.
The details of the events from Wednesday to the east of Sarajevo, where Dodik met, are not clear.
The spokeswoman for the State Research and Security Agency, or SIPA, Jelena Mivcic, said the agency members “tried to implement a (judicial) order, but the Srpska Republic Police avoided SIPA members.”
There were no violence reports and the place photographs published in the media seem to show the inspectors of the Bosnia police unarmed the Serous Police armed abroad of a government building.
The Serbian television of Bosnia reported that SIPA agents left after “talking” to the Serbian police of Bosnia. Dodik said later that he felt “good and sure” and that the Bosnia police had no authority in the Srpska Republic.
The incident aggravates the already high tensions in Bosnia, which remains ethnically divided, long after a bloody war in 1992-95 that killed 100,000 people and moved millions.
Dodik, who directs half of Bosnia administered by the Serbs, has repeatedly appealed to the separation of the territory from the rest of Bosnia, feeding the fears of instability. He has faced sanctions from the United States and the United Kingdom for his separatism, but has had the support of Moscow.
