Egypt and Angola have agreed to improve the aspects of cooperation in various sectors, in addition to the continuous coordination and joint consultation in various regional and international forums, during the meeting of the Egyptian President Abdel Fattoh El -Sisi with his Angolan counterpart, Joao Lorenso, in Cairo, Tuesday.

The two presidents discussed the efforts to preserve peace and security on the African continent, as well as a series of African issues, which included the situation in the Horn of Africa, Sudan, Somalia and Eastern Democratic Congo.

He also invited the two presidents to “stop hostilities in Sudan and resume a global national dialogue that reduces the suffering of the Sudanese”, as well as rejecting “any attempt to form a parallel Sudanese government”.

The interviews underlined the need to preserve the African unified positions regarding various international issues, according to Sisi, which underlined “the consent of the two countries on issues of economic challenges, scarcity of water and climate change”, as well as “continuous coordination and joint consultation, in various international and regional forums”.

The interviews also dealt with the issue of water safety and cooperation through international rivers, in which the two presidents underlined “the need to manage the water resources -Border, according to international law, in a global way that reaches the common benefits, respecting the principle of (not hand)” and underlined “the need to refrain from the mono procedures that increase conflicts between the right countries”.

The interviews also faced the developments of Gaza and underlined “the need to reach a ceased fire and ensure that humanitarian aid have reached the Palestinian people, without obstacles”, with “supporting the Arab Islamic plan for reconstruction”.

On a bilateral level, Sisi has affirmed the readiness of his country to provide all forms of support and support for Angola, in the areas of development and development of the skills in several sectors, including the police, defense, health, media, tourism, agriculture, anti -corruining, renewable and diplomatic energy.

After the bilateral interviews, the two presidents witnessed the signing of a series of understanding memorandums in the communications, information technology, homes and infrastructure sectors.

The volume of the commercial exchange between the two countries has increased to 34.2 million dollars in the last year, compared to $ 21.3 million in 2023, according to a declaration of the central statistics agency in Egypt, Tuesday.

“Important message”

Egyptian consent -angolano on African issues is an “important message” according to the former Egyptian foreign minister for African affairs, the ambassador Mohamed Hegazy, who indicated that the positions issued by the interviews “express an African position inclusive towards developments in the region”.

Hijazi added in his interview with ASHARQ AL -AWSAT: “Consultations dealt with economic challenges in Africa, relating to the effects of American administration that imposes customs duties on African imports, threatening the implementation of contractual agreements between Washington and African countries”.

He underlined “the importance of offering the Egyptian water security file during the interviews, due to the effects of the Ethiopian crisis (Renaissance dam) on the reports of the Blue Nilo River Basin”.

There is a dispute between Ethiopia and the two countries – Egypt and Sudan – in the project of the “Renaissance dam” according to which Addis Ababa has been organizing the tributary of the main river of the Nile since 2011. Cairo and Khartum have requested a binding legal agreement that regulates the dam management process in a way in which it does not damage their pods.

The visit of President Angolano to Cairo will be added to a “high -ranking Egyptian diplomatic activity to engage in African issues in the recent period”, according to Hegazy.
