The managers and managers of the higher centers and people who suffer from a kind of disability and multiple social institutions were the great deficit in the Spanish dependency care system, but technicians at the National Institute of Statistics (INE) have just provided very specific and updated data about the remarkable dimension of the drama that affects hundreds of thousands of Spaniards.
Almost four out of ten of the recipients do not have the home care they need to live in the lowest quality and dignity. Either they receive very rare help for their needs or because they do not receive any help. This is clarified by wiping the Spaniards living conditions, which INE made with data 2024, which this does not need to cover 37.1 % of the houses where they live accredited.
The groups that suffer from most of this lack of care are only those who need it more, the Spanish is more than 65 years and live alone, with a special deficit among women. Nearly half of them, from retirees who reside on their own and need home assistance, lack all support (47.1 %). The third most affected group, with 42.6 % of families without care, is 65 or more couples with at least one member of dependency.
The problem is not only very large, but is increasing. If she was eight years ago, in 2016, the Spanish recovers were with the need for assistance at home who did not receive 30.8 % today in this position already 37.1 %, approximately six and a half points, which represents a growth rate of 20 % in less than a contract. No one reason explains why they stop receiving the assistance they need. There are cases of refusal or absence due to dissatisfaction with service, but the main reason is very clear: 40.6 % of those who do not have his actions is that they confirm that you cannot pay it.
The economic problem is also clear when attending family income. They should pass without the help that 41.3 % of the poorest of the height need, which is almost doubled among the wealthy, of which only 24 % lack care providers and most of them do not happen without this due to lack of money but for other reasons. The second main reason for this deficiency, which affects 12 % of the total, is that the service although it requires it is not available.
The poll explains that public administrations have made efforts in recent years to increase the benefits that the reasons receive, especially in the case of the most deprived, but they also notice that these investments remain far from that necessary in a country with permanent and accelerating aging of the population.
More assistance, but insufficient
The fact that the overall effort, even if it is insufficient, is that 30 % of the dependents who have home care they receive for free, which represents an increase in 50 % free in eight years, because those who did not pay for this service were only 21 %. However, the same fact, it also shows that 70 % are forced to pay the price of the assistance it requires.
