At least seven people, including two children, died after a boat that transported türkiye migrants to a nearby Greek island turned, said Greece’s guard.
A search and rescue operation on the northern coast of Lesbos recovered the bodies. The Coast Guard said that 23 people were rescued.
The Turkish media reported that the incident was assisted by the Turkish coast guard after a rubber boat was sank in the Aegean Sea between the Turkish continent and the lesbos.
The rescued people were taken to a hospital and the search continued, said the state agency Anadolu.
The climatic conditions in the area were good and it is not clear what caused the boat to ride on Thursday morning.
There is no detailed information about the total number of people traveling on the ship, nationalities or the type of boat.

The Greek government has been repressing traffic in humans by increasing patrols in the sea. Many traffic networks moved operations to the south, using larger boats to transport people from the North Africa coast to southern Greece.
