What are the favorite formats of online buyers in relation to books?

By 2024, the printed format continued to be the favorite of the readers who buy online, according to the latest Eurostat data.
Around 14.7% of EU residents bought books, magazines or newspapers printed online in the three months prior to the Eurostat survey.
This value represents More than double the percentage of people who downloaded electronic books or audioolivros.
The highest percentages of residents that bought books, magazines or newspapers were recorded in Ireland (28.3%), the Netherlands (23.5%) and Luxembourg (22.7%).
On the contrary, the lowest percentages were recorded in Cyprus, with 2.0%, in Latvia, with 3.8%and Romania, with 5.3%.
With respect to E -Ketty Books and Audiolivros, the highest percentages were recorded in Ireland (22.3%), Denmark (19.7%) and Luxembourg (13.3%).
However, the lowest percentages were recorded in Bulgaria, with 1.8%, in Latvia, with 2.5%and Romania, with 2.6%.
In Denmark, Cyprus and Finland, the percentage of the population that bought electronic books and audiobooks exceeded that of printed books.
Tiktok content increases book sales
Tiktok also helped increase printed book sales with hashtag #BookTokAnd many libraries have a section only for these books.
Booktok is part of Tiktok dedicated to literature, where content creators have criticism and other content related to the book.
Book sales in Ireland reached a record of 170 million euros in 2022, with a significant increase in the type of romance attributed to the influence of Tiktok.
Authors such as Colleen Hoover led the tables, demonstrating the impact of the platform on reading trends.
Spotify is also investing in literature with audioolivros.
