The opening of the Funchal Book Fair 2025: Cristina Pedra indicates that “the largest edition of the usual is linked to the 500th anniversary of the Milad of Luís de Camões.”

Christina Pedra, mayor of Fonchal, was present at the opening of the 51st edition of the Funchal Book Fair, noting that this is “the largest book exhibition that was held ever in Funchal.”

With the investment of 150,000 euros, the event contains a wide and varied program, which includes more than 180 activities, as the home emphasizes.

Edil recalled that a record of the participation of books and advertising sellers and editors has been reached with a total of 34 pregnant women.

The exhibition is setting a new record, with 13 publications issued by the Funchal City Council, exceeding 11 of the previous year.

In this edition, there will also be a tribute to three Madeerin’s book: Irene Luclia Andradi, Anna Margarda Falcao and Cabral, who realize the contribution and work of these authors.

This book fair will participate greatly, with a total of 350 people and developing the city for several days. The mayor said: “We will always have Arriaga Avenue with events and even a children’s space, as children will be able to enjoy their own books.”

In addition to the cultural side, the Funchal Book Fair is a commitment to sustainability, as it merges every two years of art and the first design in Funchal, which started this week with a width of 380 artifacts.

Christina Pedra also emphasized the “Treégua” project, responsible for converting the fabric into sustainable bags and offered to buy more than 30 euros, thus ensuring the circular economy.
