Il defends immigration with the responsibility and respect of the law Funchal News Madeira News – Information from everyone for everyone!

The liberal initiative considers that “migration must be managed with responsibility, transparency and respect for the law.” The party rejects both the bureaucratic opinion that makes integration difficult, as “the popular approach that enhances fear and exclusion.” It states that “the right path is in a balance: Those who have entry work, and those who benefit from the law can survive.”
On its national location, the liberal initiative defended the end of the previous policy of the organization through the “manifestation of interest” that caused this, which created wrong and overwhelming incentives for public services. The alternative, which IL always defends, is a model based on entry and legal employment, active integration and fixed justice.
IL also calls for a deep reform of the Agency of Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA), with full digitization of operations, inter -operation between public services and the elimination of paper bureaucracy, as well as the creation of a specialized ruling in foreign law.
It also suggests and reviews the nationality law with clear criteria: an increase in the number of years of legal residency needed to obtain Portuguese citizenship, master the Portuguese language, knowledge of institutions and the absence of a dangerous criminal record.
“The discussion on immigration for noise and demagogy should be saved. Portugal has room to welcome those who want to work and contribute, but the system must work – with clear rules, justice and mutual respect,” says Joao Corty Fernandez, head of the liberal initiative by Madeira.
Consequently, the liberal initiative assumes a firm position: “a immigrant policy that protects rights, defends legitimacy and enhances the freedom of all – Portuguese and immigrants.”
