Sérgio Gonçalves suggests a specific support to combat movement poverty Funchal News Madeira News – Information from everyone for everyone!

Mobility poverty is characterized by a range of different factors, which include lack of access to appropriate transportation options and high travel costs, among other things. These factors have a direct impact on competitiveness and attracting regions.
This study reveals that despite some developments in the transportation infrastructure, the slow areas are still facing great challenges, such as the lack of public transportation options and the excessive load of the current infrastructure.
The study also evaluated the effects of climate policies in the European Union, especially the 55 objective legislative package, and highlights the problems facing RUP with new criteria, as many of these areas lack adequate technologies and face high operating costs. The implementation of these climatic policies, according to the authors, may exacerbate the movement of mobility in these areas.
During the study presentation, MEP Sérgio Gonçalves stressed the importance of considering RUP characteristics in the application of European Union policies, in order to ensure that regions can move to the green economy without harming their economic and social fitness. The socialist highlighted the need to invest in specific infrastructure, such as sustainable fuel storage spaces and create a specific program to support RUP.
In addition, Sérgio Gonçalves asked about the authors of the study on the restrictions of European policies that have already been implemented, such as the policy of cohesion, indicating the need to adapt these tools to ensure that the high -density areas and the new student can reach the most effective support mechanisms.
In response to the questions raised, one of the authors of the study agreed to allocate specific funds to move in RUP within the new financial framework of the European Union and warned that current emissions processes, which end in 2030, are not sufficient, because technology and infrastructure needed for effective green transition in superior extreme areas will not be ready in this date.
For this reason, he stressed that he needs a more flexible and long -term approach to avoid negative effects on access and competitiveness of these areas.
