Two members of the National Guard (GN) and three Mexican soldiers were killed Sunday in two distinct attacks allegedly perpetrated by the New Generation cartel of Jalisco (CJNG) in Jalisco and Michoacán.
The alleged armed men of the CJNG killed two members of the National Guard in the city of Guadalupe del Lerma in the municipality of Jalisco de La Barca, GN told the EFE news agency.

The victims belonged to the road safety division of the National Guard and were in a GN vehicle when they were criticized.
The alleged henchman of the CJNG also killed three soldiers in the municipality of Michoacán de Chilchota. The troops were attacked around 7:30 p.m. when they changed the tires on an army vehicle which had led road peaks placed by cartel agents on the highway between Chilchota and Zamora, according to EFE.
At least two other soldiers were injured in the attack.
The Michoacán Ministry of Security said in a Social media message Sunday evening, the State Civil Guard had started an “interinstitutional operation” aimed at holding the authors of the attacks of Michoacán and Jalisco. He said the operation had lasted the municipalities of Zamora, Piedad and Jiquilpan.
No arrest was reported on Monday morning.
