India then closed the Attari-Wagah border with Pakistan, expelled the best diplomats from Pakistan from India and canceled all short-term visas delivered to Pakistani citizens.
The Indus water agreement was signed between India and Pakistan on September 19, 1960 in the World Bank mediation. The agreement was signed by the Prime Minister at the time, Jawaharlal Nehru, and president of Pakistan Ayub Khan in Karachi. Under this agreement, the two countries have agreed to distribute water from the Indus and its tributaries – Ravi, Beas, Sutlej, Jhelum, Chenab and Kabul.
Under this agreement, India was authorized to use three oriental rivers – delighted, Beas and Sutlej without any restriction, while Pakistan has reached the industrial Western rivers, Chenab, Jhelum.
