The Ajloun forest reserve is a leading model in the field of environment and tourism and sustainable development.
The administrative supervisor of the reserve, UDAY AL -QUDAH, said in an interview with the Jordan news agency (PETRA) on Saturday, on Saturday, on Saturday, on Saturday, that the reserve succeeded in achieving environmental excellence by preserving nature and by protecting it, which is its people to join the green list of the International Federation for the Conservation of Nature in addition to its choice among the 100 best sustainable tourist sites.
He added that the reserve has become a tourist and environmental center of attraction because it has contributed to the development of the local community by offering employment possibilities to the inhabitants of the region in its various facilities, which has made it significant economic value for the province.
He pointed out that the area of the reserve is around 12 thousand dunums, including 6,500 dunums to protect the ecosystem, because it includes 575 species of plants and wild flowers, and 108 types of animals, indicating that 12.5% of plants in the reserve are threatened according to the red list of plants in Jordan.
The judges explained that the absence of natural pasture activity inside the reserve affects renewable vegetation levels, because certain tree seeds are covered with a thick layer which slows down their growth, indicating that the cattle stool contains enzymes which help the germination of these seeds, so that the management of the reserve allows grazing in specific periods and controlled numbers.
He stressed that overflowing is a great danger for vegetation and environmental diversity, which increases the risk of desertification, stressing that reserve managers intensify cooperation control with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Royal Environmental Protection and Security Organizations to prevent any attack on forests.
The judges have indicated that environmental tourism contributes to providing additional income to support the protection of natural areas, to improve biological diversity, to create employment opportunities inspired by the environment, to explain that this type of tourism depends on respect for nature, to protect environmental resources, to support local communities and to improve environmental awareness among visitors according to the principles of durability.
He stressed that the reserve strives to implement several environmental and development projects offered in the coming years, including the Energy Alternative project for heating at a cost of 500,000 dinars, the project to install a solar energy system at the cost of 150,000 dinars and the project to develop the problems of economic and social development at a cost of 150,000 Dinars of the Royal Academy for nature protection.
It should be noted that the reserve is one of the natural reserves of the Royal Society for the Protection of Nature, as it was created in 1987 to protect eternal oak forests .- (Petra)
