Bee breeders adhere to the positive production conditions in Morocco and awaited an “important season”

With the continuation of the “expulsion season” in parallel with the first weeks of the spring season, professionals in the beekeeping field in Morocco have reassured that the status of the sector “remains positive overall, especially since it benefited from the recent precipitation which concerned the kingdom and well affected the vegetation”.

Some of them have pointed out that “these falls have dissipated the fears that were presented earlier concerning the state of this vital sector, in particular because of the successive years of drought”, explaining that “the current context is a stimulating factor for professionals to continue production”.

This comes after the recent news, including that has been exchanged institutionally to Parliament, declaring that “the risk of refusing the number of bees in Morocco and threatening to produce honey”, in particular after the tumult that this sector has experienced due to the government’s desire to reduce the costs applied to honey imported from abroad, before it retracts it.

Al -Hassan Babbul, head of the National Union of Beekeeping Professionals in Morocco, said that “the current situation dissipates doubts or non -perpetual data on the state of the sector” and added: “Let’s say that things are positive up to the hour, especially if we invoke the recent precipitation which concerned the various regions of the kingdom.”

In a declaration in Hespress, Babbul stressed that “beekeeping professionals are accompanied during the current period at the start of the expulsion process, which intends to increase the size of the bees and the number of cells they have in this aspect.” He continued: “As for the production season, the situation does not leave a pessimistic room, in particular with regard to expectations of the coming months.”
