Ashwini Vahnav said that the governments of the congress have opposed the caste census to date. Castes were not counted throughout the census after independence. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh assured in Parliament in 2010 that it would be taken into account, but it was not implemented and the government only conducted only investigation in place of the caste census which is known as the SECC. Despite all this, the parties of Congress and the Independent Alliance used the subject of the caste census only for their political gains.
Ashwini Vahnav also declared that the theme of the census is registered on number 69 of the central list of article 246 of the Constitution and it is the subject of the center. However, many states have census caste thanks to the investigation. Where this work was done smoothly in certain states. At the same time, some other states interviewed politically and not transparent. This type of allies has spread confusion in society.
He said that keeping in mind all situations and ensuring that our social fabric is not under pressure from the policy, the calculation of caste should be included in the original census instead of an investigation.
