The countries of the European Union imported more than 112 million euros during the first month of Moroccan seafood, occupying the fourth place in the list of the largest suppliers of these products, after Norway, China and Iceland, according to data reported by the Russian agency “RIA Novosti” on the European Statistics Institute.

The same source revealed that European countries import more than 613 million euros in Norwegian sea fish last January, against 135 million euros from the People’s Republic of China, then 116 million euros in Iceland, as well as more than 100 million euros from the United Kingdom.

The same data indicated that the European Union increased its imports of Russian fish last January by 1.5 times compared to the same period last year, because the value of European purchases of Moscow reached more than 51 million euros, noting that purchases of the blocks were increased on a monthly basis of 8%.

In a similar context, Russia has ranked twelfth in the list of suppliers of the European Union in fish, while Elijah Shestakov, chief of the Russian Fish Husture Agency, stressed that the total volume of fish exports from his country is a boat of two million tonnes last year, a decrease of around 600 thousand tonnes compared to 2023 time that exports this year will have 5.7 income.

At European level, semi-formal data confirm that the total value of the total “wire” purchases of the European Union has reached more than 30 million euros in January only, as well as an additional 15 million euros in the form of frozen fish, and around 4.6 million euros are dried, salty or fish in the hen.

Moroccan maritime products are successful in European markets, because the Directorate General for Foreign Policy in the European Parliament, in a study, previously confirmed that Morocco ranked third in the list of fish exporters to European Union countries, revealing that the Rabat has expressed a value of more than one billion and 600 million euros of fish products in the year 2022.

The same document recorded that Morocco issued 182 million euros from sardines to European markets in 2022, because the kingdom represents around 93% of European imports in Sardines.
