The director of the Prime Minister’s human rights unit, Dr. Khalil Al -Abdallat, stressed that International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, which falls on March 21 of each year, represents an essential station to renew the commitment to humanitarian principles rejecting all forms of discrimination and improving the values of justice and equality.
Al -Abdallat told the Jordanian news agency (Petra) that Jordan, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, and his Highness Prince Al -Hussein Bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, continues his firm commitment to fight against racial discrimination and consolidate the culture of tolerance and mutual respect, thanks to national policies and support humans, to improve dialogue between cultures, to consecrate hatred and to reject national hatred.
He points that the elimination of racial discrimination is an essential pillar in promoting human rights, as discriminatory practices lead to undermining the principles of justice and equality, threatering political and social stability, and hindering the awning of sustainable development, indicating that racial discrimination is not limited To Violating the Rights of Individuals, But Rather Enhances Marginalization and Exclusion, and leads to the Deepening of Social and Economic Gaps, Which Disrupts Growth Opportunities and Affects The Ability Societies to achieve prosperity.
Al-Abdallat indicated that racism negatively affects the rule of law, because it weakens the confidence of individuals in judicial and judicial institutions, and limits the capacity of the State to implement laws with justice and transparency, stressing that societies which adopt integration and equality policies are more able to achieve complete development and social stability.
He noted that the kingdom at the regional and international levels distributes the values of tolerance and moderation, and improves coexistence, through head initiatives based on the fight against racism, the confrontation of hatred speeches and the promotion of integration and equality policies, while Jordan emerges as a model in the promotion of social justice, by its commitment to international treaties and agreements in this field. National initiatives and legal reforms also reflect Jordan’s firm commitment to promote equal opportunities and non-discrimination in the fields of education, employment and political participation, as well as the development of national legislation to ensure the protection of the rights of all individuals, whatever their assets.

Al -Abdallat indicated that on December 21, 1965, the United Nations General Assembly was approved; The international convention for the elimination of all forms of racial discrimination, to constitute a historical stage in the path of the promotion of human rights, stressing that Jordan was one of the first countries to ratify this agreement and undertook to submit its periodic relationships and to interact with relevant international measures.
