Federal authorities arrested a former municipal police officer on Tuesday as part of the infamous abduction and alleged murder of 43 students in Guerrero in 2014.
King Flores Hernández, alias “El Negro”, was detained in Equala, Guerrero, according to a statement Emitted by the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Navy, the Office of the Prosecutor General of the Federal (FGR), the National Guard and the Ministry of Security.
The press release indicates that for “the result of investigative work on the disappearance of Raúl Isidro Burgos Rural Teachers College students in Ayotzinapa, Guerrero, in 2014”, the federal federations carried out an arrest warrant against the crimes of organized crime and the applied disappearance.

The press release said the authorities determined that Flores, the former 50 -year -old background officer in Iguala, belonged to a criminal group and was “linked” to the disappearance of the 43 students.
The criminal group to which it belonged would have been “Los Bélicos”, which would have moved drugs for the Guerreros Unidos Crime Group.
The 43 students – all young men – were allegedly abducted by members of the Unidos Guerreros in Iguala on September 26, 2014, after the buses requisitioned to go to a demonstration in Mexico City were arrested by the municipal police.
Flores would have provided a police escort for a flat truck linked to the removal. He would also have been involved in the removal of members of rival criminal groups.
The Indigo Reporting website reported that the aforementioned flat truck had taken a group of students to the Gildardo López Astulillo Ranch, a regional leader in Guerrero Unidos.

This “confusion” could have occurred “in the context of” a gas war in the Iguala region between the two criminal groups, the government said.
- The intention may have been “teaching students a lesson in the context of the threats of the mayor (then Iguala) José Luis Abarca and the Unidos Guerreros after demonstrations and damage to the municipal palace of Iguala”, said the government. These demonstrations took place after the abduction and murder of three “social leaders”. Abarca is currently serving a 92 -year prison sentence for the abduction of six iguala activists unrelated to the Ayotzinapa affair.
- “Drug trafficking and the possible presence of drugs, weapons or money” in the buses requisitioned by the students were the third possible reason identified by the government.
