Before the Security Council, the deputy ambassador, the permanent representative of Morocco to the United Nations, Magda Macho, criticized “the policy of selective and selective standards”, that the Algerian ambassador to the United Nations approached selective political expansion “.
In response to an intervention by the Algerian ambassador on Monday, during a general discussion of the Security Council on the strengthening of the capacities of international peace operations, Moroccan diplomacy stressed that “a single delegation, among many delegations, dealt with the word before the Security Council at this meeting, and stressed the human rights component trying to relate it to the Minorsu”.
She stressed that the Moroccan delegation expressed her surprise in the face of this intervention, because she is considered a “blatant model for the selective political maneuver”, recording that the Algerian ambassador “expressed a new surprising passion for human rights and international law”.
He highlighted the facts “be deliberately neglected or easily forgotten”, noting that the skills of Minurso are clear and were created by the Security Council to supervise the cease-fire.
She explained that “the Security Council has clearly defined this mandate, and any attempt by the Algerian delegation to distort its role which indicates either deliberate ignorance or disinformation”, adding that contrary to what has been proposed, seven United Nations Peace Operations out of 11 do not enter into the monitoring of human rights within the framework of its terms of reference.
“We are wondering our role, why the Algerian delegation, which pursues double standard policy in a blatant and selective way, focuses exclusively on Minurso and tolne the rest of the peacekeeping operations,” said Macho.
She added that the Security Council grants these mandates according to the situation on the ground. “It is not a systematic rule or exception, but rather a decision that is taken according to what each case requires.”
Diplomacy pointed out that “despite continuous and desperate attempts at the same delegation, the Security Council rejected, in October 2024, in a mechanism for monitoring human rights in the state of Minuro. This rejection was not accidental because it has been reaffirmed that the human rights situation in Marrodic that Sahara does not call such a mechanism. ”
And the deputy of the permanent representative of Morocco to the United Nations considered that the clear message is that the Security Council is aware of the political maneuvers that some parts weave.
In the context of his response to the declaration of the Algerian ambassador, “which gives the impression that his concern is human rights”, wondered “a more urgent question: the Tindouf camps, on Algerian soil, where the population is subject to repression daily, and is deprived of its basic rights.
On the other hand, I noticed that Morocco has always shown its constant commitment to the progress of human rights and respect for rights and freedoms for all individuals, adding that the kingdom still cooperates with the special measures of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
She said that Morocco has also organized numerous visits by United Nations experts and has cooperated constructively in order to encourage transparency, dialogue and progress, by recording Morocco’s efforts in the field of human rights promotion is not limited to sayings; It is rather embodied by concrete procedures which aim to ensure the well and the dignity of each citizen.
In response to the word of the Algerian ambassador on the right to self -determination, Moroccan diplomacy has monitored “blatant contradiction”, because Algeria considers self -determination “a selective concept which it uses as an opposite political weapon
She said that the United Nations should pay attention to all these aspirations, without exception or selectivity; Including in countries that call for self-determination for others and systematically refuses to give it to the persecuted peoples on their land.
She pointed out that “the right to self-determination cannot constitute a political tool which is used selectively, that some require and others ignore it. It is not an article which is declared according to the circumstances”.
Diplomacy has concluded that “the Sahara has always been an integral part of Morocco; it is Moroccan and will remain Moroccan forever, because the question is not linked to a demand related to recent events, but rather to an extension of centuries of historical, cultural and geographic links”.
