National Panchayati Raj day:: Gujarat has established a new standard in the field of rural governance and sustainable development in the recently published Panchayat Unnati index (PAI) for the year 2022-23 by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India. Gujarat carried out this particular achievement in rural development under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the “strong village, the prosperous nation” and the results of the chief minister Bhupendra Patel.

The national day of Panchayati Raj, celebrated on April 24 of each year, recalls the 73rd constitutional amendment of 1992, which gave an institutional form to the Panchayati Raj system in India. Out of 2,55,699 grams of panchayats in the Unnati Panchayat of the Government of India (PAI), 2.16,285 presented valid data. Among these, 699 Panchayats led, 77,298 best performance and 1.32,392 aspirations. Among this, 346 Panchayats of Gujarat are pioneers and 13,781 have obtained the largest number of performance categories, which is the highest in the country in the two categories.

Dr. Gaurav Dahiya (IAS), the Nodal Officer of the PAI State and the Additional Commissioner for the Development of the Gujarat Department of Gujarat, underlined the strategy of the government government behind this achievement, affirming that this achievement of Gujarat reflects the deep commitment of the State towards the location of the development of the soil and the objectives of sustainable development. Many examination meetings, various sessions of adding capacity and coordinated efforts at all levels have played an important role behind this success. The Panchayats of Gujarat presented an impressive example of data -based scheme and departmental coordination. The government of the State is constantly evolving towards the realization of the Prime Minister’s dream to develop India thanks to good governance based on evidence, on the basis of the vision of the developed panchayat.

Index Panchayat Unati: What is it? And why is it important?

The Panchayat UNATI (PAI) index is a global assessment tool measuring progress in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (LSDG) of more than 2.5 Lakh Gram Panchayats in the country. The index is considering a major and historical step towards Asssing the grassroots development of villages and strengthening the role of panchayats, included 9 subjects such as poverty-free and Better Livelihood, Healthy Panchayats, Children’s-Genuine Panchayats, Jal-drat Clean and Green Panchayats, Self-Sufficit Infrastructure Panchayats, Socially justified and safe Panchayats, Well-Bound Panchayats, very rich panchayats and women-unpanchayats. These subjects were evaluated by 435 local indicators and 566 data points.
