Welcome to this decision, the chief minister of Telangana, Revanth Reddy, described it as a “historic decision” and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“What Telangana does today, India does it tomorrow. I thank Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the Union’s Cabinet that he accepted the request of the year for the caste census. It is the victory of data -based governance and social justice.”
Telangana conducted the country’s first social, economic and ethnic survey in 2024, which took place for the first time since 1931. This survey revealed that 56.32% of the state population comes from back classes (OBC), on the basis of the government, the government proposed a 42% reserve of education, employment and political representation.
