The White House indicated that Houthi attacks on maritime transport since 2023 have negatively affected American economic security and world trade, explaining that the number of commercial ships in the Red Sea has increased from 25,000 per year to around 10,000.

He said that Houthi attacks had caused a price of around 60% of ships to Africa to cross the Red Sea, and they also attacked American warships, 174 times and commercial ships 145 times since 2023.
