The import and export of the controversy continue .. Where is the agricultural calendar? …

Oman- In the midst of confusion in agricultural circles due to the export and import of crops without coordination clearly defined between the parties concerned, agricultural experts underlined the need to provide adequate foundations and information related to agricultural production for any category, and in each region, and to determine the daily, monthly and annual needs thanks to an agricultural calendar up to date by information on which the decision Import or export is updated.
And among these experts for “Al -ghad”, that the agricultural calendar has become an essential question which is at the heart of the work of the Ministry of Agriculture, because it allows farms to produce and reach the markets appropriately and, at the same time, to obtain protection for the consumer.
They underlined the need to implement the permanent customs protection initiative and with a variable ceiling which is subject to the availability of local agricultural products on the markets, which is an alternative initiative for ineffective closed protection.
Consumer rights
In this regard, the food security expert, Dr. Fadel Al -zoubi, stressed that the question of the agricultural calendar is essential in the work of the Ministry of Agriculture, because it is carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and helps to allow farms to determine its production, and facilitates the necessary protection.
Al -Zoubi Added that the fluctuation of prices is caused by supply and request, and the availabilty of liquidity to open the door for import or close it, and all of these matters are very important in determining the agricultural calendar, and here the minister of agriculture must carry out protection Reaching the Peak of Production, and at the same Time Protecting the Consumer, in Light of the Low Production, and the High Prices, indicating that this matter does does not only apply to agriculture but also to cattle.
And he gave the example for the season of Eid Al -Adha, which must provide abundant quantities of meat meat, and therefore it is preferable not to export it, so that the citizen can reach it at regular prices, and this must be the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture.
He explained that the agricultural curtain is that its production is greater than the others, and that this problem must be studied carefully and does not leave the mood of a single person who decides it according to the immediate information, and this question does not fall under the responsibility of an official in the agricultural sector, but rather of the technical staff who must prepare all the information for the decision to give information to the location and to aggravate Place them and act, and even the need to give what is ideas, and this is what was discussed in the food security file.
Legitimate questions
For his part, the director general of Farmers Union, Mahmoud Al -Awran, asked questions about the moments when the importation of agricultural products should be opened, and what is forced by the Ministry of Agriculture, for example, to violate the agricultural calendar.
He said this requires an agricultural calendar permanently updated and opens the door to import and export or closure, according to the law on agriculture, article 13, on the basis of the supply of data and information related to marketing, including the conditions of agricultural goods, their prices and their marketing opportunities.
He added: “In addition, article 64 determines the import while protecting the local product from the entry of agricultural products supported.
Customs protection
For his part, the former Minister of Agriculture Saeed Al -Masry stressed that the permanent customs protection initiative must be applied (with a variable ceiling which is subject to the availability of local agricultural products on the markets), considering that this initiative is an alternative to ineffective closed protection, as happened with Lemon and Citrus products.
In turn, the president of the Jordanian association for exporters and fruits of vegetables and fruits, Mazen Hamarneh, said that import and export should be available according to the quantities provided to the central markets.
Hamarneh stressed that the committee concerned about the opening of imports and exports draws its information from the General Union of Farmers, the Jordanian association of exporters and producers of vegetables and fruit, the general union of traders and exporters of vegetables and fruits, and the union of members of the Jordan valley, and the decision is only taken with all these members.
As for the president of the Jordanian Medicines Association, Abdul Rahman Al -Ghazawi, he underlined the need to open the door to import the product when the local product does not cover the need for the market, including, for example, the Kiwi product which should be imported throughout the year, because there is no local product, unlike the available Citrus varieties.
Al -Ghazzawi stressed that the Ministry of Agriculture is held in the ranks of importers in more than one calendar, where more than once it has been imported locally and has not benefited from the consumer because its prices are high, which hurts the farmer and the consumer together.
For his part, tomorrow, tomorrow, the deputy general secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture for Marketing and Quality, Eng. Khalil AMR, was to clarify the agricultural calendar without success.
