May Cultural Festival
Each year since 1998, Guadalajara has welcomed Jalisco May Cultural Festival, a celebration sponsored by the State Ministry of Culture to promote cultural activities. From music to exhibitions, plays, conferences and more, the festival will welcome 44 events through the city. This year’s guest country is Canada, with Canadian acts like the Circus Wave Circus Group and the Montreal Funk group The Brooks taking the festival scenes.
One of the highlights of the festival will be a live performance of the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (OFJ) at the Teatro Degollado celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of Maurice Ravel.

Akamba: a music festival in the birthplace of Tequila
Imagine the packaging sounds of electronic music at the heart of the Agave landscape in Tequila, Jalisco. It is Akamba, the music festival organized by Cuervo Tradicional. This year’s edition promises an immersive experience that merges music with contemporary art and signature cuisine. Participants can arrive on the site aboard the Akamba Express, a traveler train that leaves Guadalajara, with live DJs, exclusive cocktails and panoramic views of the agave landscape.

Beer exhibition
Guadalajara is expected to host the largest artisan beer exhibition in Latin America, bringing together more than 100 artisanal beer producers, importers and distributors of the Western and Bajío regions of Mexico. The event seeks to connect brewers with restaurant channels, bars, tap rooms, importers, distributors, department stores and specialized stores to stimulate industry.

Watch a film on a UNESCO World Heritage Site
The Museo Cabañas will project “Samsara”, a film in 2023 directed by Lois Patiño which tells the story of the death and rebirth of a Laotian woman and the Buddhist boy who reads him from Bardo Thödol, a guide to the journey between death and reincarnation. The Museo Cabañas is located in the Hospicio CabañasA massive orphanage in the colonial era and a hospital complex have appointed a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997.

“Puss in boots”: ballet for all ages

The Jalisco ballet is back with the Family production “The cat with boots”. The production is inspired by the original fairy tale by Charles Perrault which tells the story of an intelligent cat who helps his master deceive a king and an ogre to become rich. The ballet is choreographed by Lucy Arce.
