On 18, another electoral process took place. I never stop affirming that the elections are the sap of democracy – and, consequently, all the associated expenses constitute a civil and social investment.

On the other hand, regardless of the result, it is essential to respect the process. This presupposes not ignoring voters or reducing political options, as empathic.
I have heard all types of analysis on the results of these elections. And I read a list of comments, based on social networks, on the new Portuguese political panorama. I found an often inflamed discussion and, too often, intolerant.
If an epidemic of “epidemiologists” arrived in the Covid-19 pandemics, in the present we saw the pulp of “politicians” and “political scientists”. In addition to the prejudice of the political part, it is too evident from the latter group, the results of the elections reflect a sociological reality dissociated by reality perceived by “traditional” parties and, above all, by the centers of Lisbon and “national intellectuality”.
Like Portuguese, which finds the reality of daily life, she interprets the electoral results due to the tiredness of the majority which has been systematically ignored by “traditional” political parts.
According to Geoffrey Rose (1926-1993), a famous British epidemiologist, therefore an intervention translates into health results of the population should have an impact on many, even if everyone is reduced. The opposite (i.e. intervened about few, although with many individual needs) translates into high individual gains, but without expression of the population.
If it is also true that, in terms of performance of health systems, the improvement of health results implies the intervention of the greatest number of needs (equity), in all situations we must not forget that the number produces the results of public health. And surely the electoral result …
The “flags” of the “progressive” parties no longer drag the crowd or the voters motivate. In a worryingly turbulent world, normal citizens favor stability: it is included, one day by day with the normality possible.
