The Cabirdo de Fuerteventura, from the service of works and machinery, has put agricultural tractors this month to support the municipalities and owners of neighbors of Gavia, repairing strangers as preparing the land for cultivation.
The president of Cabildo, Lola García, highlights the importance of “some works that put a traditional cultivation system for the workers of the countryside, as well as constituting a part of identity of the Majorero landscape”.
Gavias, traditional cultivation systems and part of the identity of the Majorero landscape, such as the infrastructure that facilitate the retention of nutrients and fertile lands which, otherwise downstream, would be lost with the outflow, in addition to containing water for filtration towards the Aquifers.
The work plan includes actions in practically all the municipalities of the island. “The advantage of these actions is triple”, explains the consultant of the area, Acosta Blas, since “in addition to facilitating the cultivation in fertile soils, the repair and adequacy of Gavias, allows you to replace the aquifers of Fuerteventura while maintaining the outflow and facilitating their filtered in the subsoil and has also been replaced by the pounds.
During this month of May, the agricultural tractors of the works and the machinery service act in Gavias de la Oliva, Puerto del Rosario, Betancuria, Tuineje and Pájara. These interventions arise from the applications submitted by individuals and municipalities.
For example, to the mother of the Agua (Municipality of Pájara), on the municipal request and farmers in the area, work on the repair of the backgrounds that limit and give meaning to the Gavia, as well as withdrawing the weeds and performing the widths for the irrigation of the palm trees.
In Tesjuate and Asomada, in the municipality of Puerto del Rosario, the neighbors have requested support from agricultural tractors to clean and barbechar Gavias, as well as repair backones.
To the north of the island, in Lajares (Municipality of La Oliva), the works and the service of machinery also carry out works supporting the neighboring owners of Gavias and cultivation land, preparing them to obtain a more fertile harvest.
In the Santa Inés valley, in the municipality of Betancuria, agricultural tractors strive to repair the contempt for Gavia and clean the land from the weeds, thus witnessing the requests of the local residents.
In the case of Tesejejerague, in the municipality of Tuineje, the works of the agricultural tractors of Cabirdo focus on the Gavia Barbechar and Stercular to increase their fertility when subsequent vegetables are taken into consideration.
It is important to review that Gavias are infrastructures that facilitate the retention of nutrients and fertile lands which, otherwise, have been lost downstream with the outflow, as well as containing water for filtration towards the aquifers.
