Mealhada: sowing for insects in Parque from Cidade


A sowing in the city park of Meashada for pollinating insects was the first action of the “Class Action Route”, an initiative of the Blue Band Bandy Association of Environment and Education (Abaae), as part of the Eco-Scuola program, promoted with the support of the municipal environmental interpretation center of Meashada.

The route began with the presentation of the project and the sowing, which was held this morning, the World Earth Day, and lasts until May 22, with the most different actions, from seminars to waste collection actions and awareness -raising actions for sustainable development objectives (SDG) and environmental protection.
The EB2 students of Meashada and Vasconcellos Lebre Vocational School planted incarnate clover, woods and white cow grass to attract pollinators, so that they carry out their work and replicate the species that enrich biodiversity and push away the invasive. This will be the second “restaurant” for the honey bees in the municipality of Meashada, after being created a first, in Luso, both integrated in the Lowood project of the Cim Region of Coimbra.
Meashada Eb2 students received the testimony of the mayor of Mealhada, António Jorge Franco, who will later exceed colleagues from other schools during the various actions that will develop, that is excursions and tracks, outdoor lessons, garbage collection actions, environmental workshops, composting and education for air -conditioned changes, coastal cleaning and water monitoring from Rio CertaMa.
“It is very important that we are vigilant of the sustainability of the planet and the finitude of resources. And the protection of the planet begins with simple gestures, with the separation of waste to reduce waste in landfills and the implementation of the domestic composting of each of us,” said the mayor.
The route will develop for over 12 days, passing through the six parishes of Mealhada and involving 15 public schools, four private schools and 20 partner entities, including Sepna, Meashada and Pampilhosa Volunteer Firefighters, Ersuc, ADCL, Bioliving, Mata Do Busco Foundation, Albi, Centro Litoral Center, Cenic Group, Sknowledge Group, of Cim – Cimbra, Foundation for climates, Climsaco Foundation, Clasco Fondate
This initiative presupposes the commitment for the #ecoesfazpeloclima concept, whose main objectives are to propose actions and commitments aligned with the objectives of Agenda 2030, in particular by promoting sustainable mobility and the evaluation of green spaces and the natural resources of citizens and natural resources, stimulating natural resources and natural resources.
The initiative aims to contribute to the fulfillment of the sustainable development objectives (SDG), i.e.: ODS 4 – Quality education, promote environmental literacy and active citizenship; ODS 13 – Climate action, through awareness and climatic intervention; ODS 11 – Sustainable cities and communities, evaluating urban and rural spaces with concrete actions; ODS 7 – accessible and clean energy, encouraging more efficient and sustainable behaviors; ODS 15 – Protect Earth life and ODS 14 – protect marine life, with actions focused on the conservation of biodiversity; and ODS 17 – Partnership for the implementation of objectives, through the articulation between schools, local entities and communities.
