Everyone took a piece of history and together built a ceramic mural that honors one of the emblematic symbols of St. Vincent Pereira: The Spike.
The action took place on Tuesday 6 May, at the Elementary School of San Vicente de Pereira, in the reach of the May program of May and wanted to mark the National Tile Day. The panel, presented firsthand to the protagonists of this project, will be briefly installed and inaugurated in a place of relevance of the parish.
“In addition to the appearance of tourism promotion, May of Tile stands out for its pedagogical aspect, trying to inform and sensitize all citizens, in particular children and families, about the importance of taking care and evaluating history and identity”, explains Domingos Silva, mayor of Ovar, claiming that “these initiatives have determined the preservation of the Municipality of the Municipality”.
Aimed at students of the first cycle, it is the culmination of the pedagogical project “The magic of the tile” which aims to bring new generations closer to the history and heritage of the county. In this project, the children were invited to leave the classroom and go to discover their parish and also Ovar, tiled in the city. The students met the county tile and also had the opportunity to paint a tile. In the end, they left the guarantee that when they grow, they will be guardians and ambassadors of this important legacy.
