Ovaro’s room strengthens support for the firefighters to ensure the safety of the bathroom
Further investments of 47 thousand euros guarantee the permanent presence of rescue teams on the beaches of the County, together with the surveillance provided by the saved swimmers assumed by the Municipality.

Ovar’s city council approved further financial support of 47,000 euros to the humanitarian associations of Ovar and Esmoriz Voluntary Firefighter, with the aim of strengthening safety on the beaches of the Municipality during the Bathroom Season 2025. This support allows you to guarantee the permanent presence of 2 firefighters and 1 rescue vehicle in Praia Do Furadouro and 4 firefighters on the beach of Esmoriz, which will work. Between June 7 and September 7, every day, from 9:30 to 19:30. These vehicles represent additional support for surveillance that is carried out by the swimmers of the Salvatore assumed by the Municipality.
Domingos Silva, mayor of Ovar, underlines that “the safety of our beaches is a responsibility that we take on great seriousness. This reinforcement represents not only an investment in our firefighters, but especially in the protection of thousands of people who, every year, seek our coast for moments of liberation and rest.”
This further support is added to the collaboration agreement in February 2025 by the Municipality with the County Fire Brigade, for an amount of € 642,95.20, which already represented an increase of about 9% compared to 2024, covering the operation of permanent intervention teams, accusations of human resources, operational expenses and essential investments.
In addition, in 2025, the reinforcement of the vehicles on the beaches of Esmoriz, Cortegaça and Maceda, by the Volunteer Fire Brigade of Esmoriz, is expected, taking into account the estate of two important scouting events that take place between the scouting that will take place among the regional scouting explorers.
The now approved protocol also includes a 1,000 € supplement per company, designed to guarantee the possibility of responding in emergency situations outside the bathroom season, strengthening the readiness of the firefighters throughout the year.
With this extraordinary support, the Municipality of Ovar strengthens its commitment to the safety, civil protection and the well -being of residents and visitors, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the beaches of County with confidence and tranquility.
