“Gineceu”, of the poet Clara Andrade, is the winning work of the 2024 edition of the literary prize of João da Silva Correia, today announced the city council of S. João da Madeira, a promoting entity.

The decision was unanimously made by the jury of the competition, made up of diplomat and writer Luís Castro Mendes -Minister of Culture from April 2016 to October 2018 -, the poet José Fanha, who is one of the commissioners of the Poetry Festival.
Born in 1962, Clara Andrade has a degree in philosophy at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon. I was a secondary education teacher and is currently responsible for the municipal library of Lagoa.
The jury has decided to reward the “gym” to be “a book with rigor and consistency in the strength of its poetic language” and “alludes to very current feminist themes”.
Quoted in the press release, he says that the writings “are painted on the life and feeling of women in different times and contexts” in “small clumsy stories and that in everything they constitute a single story, that of women”.
The edition of this year of the João da Silva Correia literary prize includes Quye Works presented for the first time in digital format. San Giovanni di Madeira 215 Original poetry, coming from various places in Portugal and countries such as Brazil, Mozambique, Angola, France, Argentina, the United States, Italy, Germany and Spain, continuing to increase the number of works presented.
Coordinated by the municipal library of San João da Madeira, the prize is a tribute to João da Silva Correia (1896-1973), journalist and writer Sanjoanense, author of the novel “Black Nails”. The edition has awarded a financial refund for the publication of the work prize up to the limit of 3,000 euros.
