The “May 100% Canaras” programming of the Cabyldo brings Majoreras traditions to more than a thousand students
The Cabildo de Fuerteventura has contacted the traditions to over 1,000 students from all over the island, through the “May 100% Canary Islands” program. During the month of May, the educational centers of the whole island participated in activities promoted by culture, cultural heritage and museums of Fuerteventura to improve the customs and traditions of the canary people, in particular Majorro.
For the consultant, Rayco León, it is important that young people know the elements that make up the canary identity. The activities were brought to schools and institutes from north to south, covering from Cotillo to Morro Jable. Students of all levels of education participated, from the child to maturity, with the collaboration of associations and groups.
In this way, the canarian gastronomial seminars have been developed with Avva La Charca, the traditional dance seminars with Tetir’s folk group, as well as the Maho Association stick game.

The schoolchildren of Fuerteventura, at the hands of AF Maxoratata, were able to visit and know, moreover, the traditional clothing exhibition that was exhibited both in the training building and conferences, and in the Grand Tarajal library.
In the same way, the students participated in seminars in the Archaeological Museum of Fuerteventura, knowing the work of an archaeologist and the culture of the Mahos.
“May 100% Canary Islands” is a program organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, to improve the canary traditions between the public of all ages. Throughout the month theatrical performances, heritage visits, dance seminars, traditional clothing exhibitions, among other activities, were developed. A very large program, promoted by the Ministry of Culture and which includes different services such as cultural heritage, the Museums of Fuerteventura, the Juan Ismael Art Center or the center of insular libraries, as well as activities from other areas of Cabildo such as youth or sport.
