Now a year has passed since, in an election campaign, Aveiro has been toasted to an ambitious promise: the redevelopment of the hospital, the end of the tolls in A25, the modernization of the vouga line, the Aveiro – look – Salamanca Rail Connection, the Giordizia city, the new buildings for the PSP, the GNR and the Civil Protection, the recovery of free state. A year later, everything is exactly in the same place: in the void of the intentions.

Worse still not doing, he is pretending to do so. A few weeks of the legislatures of May 18, it seems that both will pack the promises of 2024 and sell them as new. As if the population was no memory. As if “Zé Povenho” could be easily convinced for the second time … Ironic, or perhaps not, it is the fact that the two main candidates for the Prime Minister, the current historical operator and the leader of the opposition, and for the Aveiro circle. But this, contrary to what would be expected, has not brought benefits to the district. Rather the opposite.

Luís Montenegro returns this Sunday to Aveiro to launch the candidacy of Luís Sauto to the city council. It will, as always, will be well surrounded by their strong and muscle of municipal politics. But the truth is that, in health and beyond, Montenegro preferred not to make sure Aveiro to inflate the north of the district and the Coimbra region. The example of Ovar’s departure from Uls Baixo Vouga, to join Uls de Santa Maria da Feira, is just one of many. Aveiro is emptied while the central power applauds.
The expansion of the hospital remains stopped. Nothing is known about the second competition for your project. The redevelopment of the Christ Christ School building does not advance. The vouga line is still given to diesel, slowness and degradation. The security forces remain in unworthy buildings. The courts, ditto. The abandoned buildings of the state continue to stain the city: educational institution of Santa Joana, former health center of San Bernardo, former CGD. A25 tolls continue where they were. And the connection with Salamanca has not even studied.
The last document of the Chamber, sent to the government in June, lists 38 Dossiers for the resolution. It is a portrait of abandonment. In addition, it is a mirror of paralysis in which the relationship between Aveiro and central power fell.
In May, vote again. The question is imposed: the political representatives courage to approve the invoice of so many forgotten promises? Or Aveiro will continue to be the scene of the recycled campaigns, where you promise everything, do not do anything – and Zé Poveinho continues to pay?
