The extraordinary electoral assembly of the entity of regional tourism of the Center of Portugal (TCP) has elected Rui Ventura as the new president of the executive committee of this entity, for a mandate that ends in 2028.

The electoral law was held on a voting table in the auditorium of the Coordination and Regional Development Commission of the Center in Coimbra. 149 Associates voted, which represent 93.7% of the 159 elements of the electoral college.
Two candidates were presented for the presidency of the Executive Committee. Rui Ventura, so far mayor of Pinhel, has obtained 86 votes (57.72%) and Walter Chicharro, deputy to the assembly of the Republic and previous mayor of Nazareth, obtained 60 votes (40.27%). There were also 3 white votes.
It should be remembered that this electoral act had the sole purpose of electing the president of the Tourism Executive Committee Centro de Portugal, a free place since December 2024, for the death of Raul Almeida. The other TCP corporate bodies, elected in July 2023, remain unchanged.
The inauguration of the corporate bodies will take place at 11:30 on April 15 in Coimbra.
Giving himself to all the members, after the known results, Rui Ventura praised participation. “I thank all the members for their participation. The two applications have maintained the elevation that this regional entity has always had, with a spirit of union that is recognized,” he said. “It is my purpose that we are always together, whether the municipalities and the private individual, with whom I have learned a lot in recent weeks. I leave a word of thanks to all my team and all those who have welcomed me with open arms in the tourism center of Portugal. I was well welcomed, I collected ideas and collected the feeling of each of the sectors of this entity. I believe that this region of the Tourism will have even more future.”
After the extraordinary general assembly, there was a normal general meeting, which had as the main points of the work order the presentation of the report on the activities and management of the account and the account of 2024, which had been approved unanimously.
It should also be noted that a minute of silence was fulfilled, in memory of the previous president, Raul Almeida.
