The investigation, published on the eve of the World Liver Day, which is celebrated on April 19, analyzed three countries (France, the Netherlands and Romania) and concluded that with this increase in the price of alcohol, more than 11,500 cases of chronic liver and 7,900 liver cancer between 2022 and 2030, it exceeds 620 of the disposal cases of more than 620.
The alcohol unit is equivalent to eight grams of pure alcohol, which in Spain corresponds to a cup of wine (100 milliliters, 13 degrees), beer cane (200 ml, 5 degrees) or a nails lollipop (30 ml, 40 degrees). The proposed measure may indicate that an alcoholic drink should not be sold less than 0.70 euros per unit of alcohol.
Everyone, for example, will be that a bottle of 750 ml of 13 % alcohol, which contains eight units, must have the minimum price of 5.60 euros, not below. In this way, alcoholic beverages should be embodied between 40 and 130 %.
“Financial policies like the minimum price per unit of alcohol is effective because they mostly affect those who consume more than others, which are also those who have a greater risk of disease,” says Jeffrey Lazaros, of Barcelona.
The Spanish Society for the Study of Liver, which has repeated the European report, remembers that, according to Eurostat, Spain is among the countries that have the cheapest alcohol in the entire European Union, where prices are 16 % less than the average community, and much less than countries such as the important effects of guidance, and Ireland aims, “Scotland, Wales or Canada, which increased the price of drinks Alcohol, its consumption decreased, also reduced the consumption of deaths and hospitalization.
