The humanitarian association of Volunteer Fire Brigade of ílhavo has entered into the contract for the acquisition of a special fire -fighting vehicle (place) of 548,300 euros, plus VAT.

The project derives from a joint effort between the Municipality of ílhavo, the Administration of Porto de Aveiro (APA) and the companies installed at the liquid terminal of Porto de Aveiro.
“The investment”, recalls the Municipality, “will allow to strengthen the ability to respond to fire in high -risk industrial areas”.
Delivery is scheduled until 31 July of this year, at the Volunteer Fire Barracks of ílhavo.
The edition and the APA finance the vehicle into 200 thousand euros, to divide equal parts, corresponding to 36.48% of the total, while the companies installed in the Granks Liquid terminal will finance the remaining amount of 348,300.00 euros.
Equipped with “innovative technology and unique specifications in Portugal”, the vehicle has 15,000 liters of water capacity and 1,000 liters of foamy agent for hydrocarbons fires, as well as a high -screening fire monitor, advanced thermal analysis systems and explosive atmospheres monitoring, communications adapted to the ATEX areas and the memory and chemical protection equipment.
“The acquisition of this vehicle represents significant progress in the protection of infrastructure, the environment and local populations, strengthening the operational capacity of the voluntary firefighters in Ilhavo and allowing a more effective response to emergencies,” says Ilhavense’s Chamber.
