The Ovar PCP political commission is, first of all, “support” with the workforce faced with the “possibility of another collective dismissal”, which even employed over 7000 workers in Portugal in 1996.

In 1998, with the change of production lines, the number of workers and since then “there were several collective discharges promoted”, that is to say in 2006 and 2008.

“Making” this new collective dismissal, “will have a devastating social and economic impact, questioning the right of work, salary and income from many families”, the PCP that presented a question to the government in the assembly of the Republic on this situation, through the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity, under discussion if you have information on the labor situation and what measures will have to run for security “.

Already the left block warns that “this mass dismissal represents a brutal blow for hundreds of families that increase the precariousness and social chaos of the region, leaving workers and other employees of the company in a situation of extreme vulnerability”.

The instability of the work has faced “for months now it has culminated in this repossible result”, it complains of the blockade, for which the company should have found “an alternative to ensure the maintenance of jobs, in particular given the international astronomical profits”, choosing to extend “uncertainty and anguish of workers for months, demonstrating an inhuman and irresponsible position”.

The blocks will question the Ministry of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security “to understand what responds to the Government has for these dismissed workers”, considering that “it is essential that the executive assumes their responsibility and current concrete measures in support of these people, guaranteeing social protection and immediate access to new job opportunities, as well as” responses on the possible existence of public support to this mass dismissal “.

The left block also supports “the creation of a social emergency plan in these municipalities, which allows immediate support to workers and their families, ensuring that no one will be without means of subsistence”.
