BIS RAID on Amazon and Flipkart: The Indian Standards Office (BIS) raided e -commerce companies and raided many warehouses. During this time, the agency seized thousands of products without the BIS certificate. This action has been taken in many cities including LuckNow, Gurugram and Dehi in large platform warehouses like Amazon and Flipkart. On March 7, 2025, during a raid on the Amazon warehouse in Landau, BIS seized 215 games and 24 manual mixers, which were sold without the mandatory BIS certificate.

Likewise, the behavior of the Flipkart warehouse in Gurugram, on 534 steel bottles, 134 games and 41 speakers, which did not have the necessary certificates.

Big work in Delhi

BIS investigation revealed that these non -standard products were provided by a company called Techvision International PVT LTD. After that, two different manufacturers of this company were raided in Delhi, where 7000 electric water heaters, 4000 food mixers, 95 of the room heaters, and 40 gas stoves were recovered. There was no mandatory BIS certificate on all these products.

A very fine and imprisonment is possible

BIS was submitted two cases against Techvision International Private Limited under Articles 17 (1) and 17 (3) of BIS, 2016. Regardless of this, legal measures are also taken in other cases. Under the BIS Law, perpetrators can be imposed from a fine of at least a cobs for at least to 10 times the total price of the products sold. In serious cases, there can also be a two -year prison.

Danger of fake products

The government provided BIS certificate for many consumer products such as local pressure cook, hand mixer, food mixer, electric iron, room heater, PVC cables, gas stove, games, helmets, converter, sockets, and aluminum foil for food packaging. However, BIS supervision found that products that are still being sold on e -commerce platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, Myntra and Bigbasket.

Some of these products without the ISI mark, while some have fake licensing numbers (CM/L numbers).
