Justice is attached to the permission of pharmacists to prescribe medicines health

On Monday (3/31), the court suspended the decision that allows pharmacists to prescribe medications, including those that require revenue. The decision came after the Federal Medicine Council (CFM) filed a lawsuit to cancel the new decision of the Federal Pharmacy Council (CF), which can still appeal.

Pharmacists were licensed to prescribe medications last Thursday (20). According to the Federal Court of the Federal Region, responsible for this process, “only the doctor enjoys technical, professional and legal efficiency to sign diagnosis and therapeutic treatment.”

In the procedure, CFM states that pharmacists do not have “legal support or medical technical preparation for identifying diseases, identifying treatments and measures to restore the health of people affected by various diseases.”

The new CFF standard was published in the Official Gazette on March 17 and it will be valid from next month. With the new decision, the prescription of medicines that need revenue will be limited to the pharmacist who has a specialized qualified record (RQE) in the clinical pharmacy. With the publication, this measure had already generated negative reactions to medical associations, which question the training of pharmacists on the job and claims that the activity is not part of the work of these professionals.

What does the list say

Among the other aspects, CFF Resolution 5 of 02/20/2025 will allow the pharmacy:

• Drug prescription (including medications under the prescription);
• Renewal of “medical prescriptions previously issued by other qualified health professionals”;
• Do the physical examination of signs and symptoms, perform, request and interpret exams to assess the effectiveness of treatment.

The decision also allows the pharmacist:

• Collect data through pharmaceutical distortions

• Conduct, request and interpretation of exams to assess the effectiveness of treatment

The council’s proposal is for professionals to make something like a medical date. The adoption of emergency care in pharmacies has been adopted in this field, as one of the Gaza giants announced the proposal as part of its future plans.

CFF defends the prescription by pharmacists

CFF faced criticism of medical entities, saying that “the prescription is not a special activity for doctors.” He mentioned that the prescription of the drugs is “linked” to pharmacists with the registration of experts; Pharmacists cannot prescribe medications that have “notifying revenues, such as the black tape called”; The decision depends on the law that regulates the instructions of the profession and the curricula of the pharmacy course.

The council also claims that there is recognition of the Ministry of Health, as is the case with the protection recipe before exposure to HIP and Pep. The council said: “The Prep and PeP recipe is organized by pharmacists and nurses by class councils, which are encouraged by the Ministry of Health as part of the efforts made to eliminate HIV as a general health problem in the country and expand access to users of the unified health system (SUS) to prevention strategies.”
