History, science and vanguard -Jarid

The House of Doña María La Brava is a symbolic building for the fifteenth century, which is located at the 5th of Sales Plaza De Los, at the Historical Center of Alamela, rarely 250 meters from the mayor of Plaza. The property was acquired and rehabilitated in 2008 by Unicaja for use as a museum space.

The building, which contains four floors and a useful area with an area of 1282 square meters, maintains the essence of noble homes in the second half of the fifteenth century, despite its entire reshape. Throughout the twentieth century, it included a secondary school for schools and the facilities of the Salama College of Medicines.

The name of the house honors Donna Maria Rodriguez de Moneroi, known as “La Brava”, and is a member of the influential Aslamka family in the fifteenth century. During the war of the two sides, in which the various factions fought for the city’s control, their children were killed. In search of revenge, Mrs. Maria followed the officials, ordered her execution and deposited her heads in the grave of her children. This act represents a legend and made it a historical figure that reminds her of her design and personality.

Through the establishment of the new science house, this historical space will be strengthened, which will complete the width of the Salamanca Museum in the field of scientific culture through experience, background and search for the quality of research approved by the largest Spanish and seventh research body around the world -with artistic and heroic vision.
