Berlin – His Majesty King Abdullah II spent a speech yesterday when the third world summit was opened for people with disabilities (GDS 2025), which takes place in Berlin with the organization of Jordan and German governments and the International Coalition for Handicap.
His Majesty underlined the need for joint work, commitment and measures to ensure that people with disabilities live their lives with dignity, happiness and hope.
And His Majesty indicated that totalitarianism is not limited to guaranteeing the possibility of disabled people towards various facilities, but also includes recognition of the potential inherent in each human being and the supply of the environment in which everyone can contribute.
His Majesty underlined the progress made by Jordan to support the rights of people with disabilities, as one of the first signatories of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, as well as to support its legislation for the rights of disabled people and including leading positions to take care, rehabilitate and integrate them into society.
His Majesty spoke of the need to intensify international efforts in the fields of conflict, where people with disabilities are more threatened, which indicates that the Jordanian “Restoring Hope” initiative to support the amputees, benefited more than 400 people from the amputee in Gaza, including children.
The text of the word His Majesty:
“In the name of God, the most graceful, the most merciful
Schultz advisor,
Excellent and happiness,
Dear friends,
I am happy to join you today. On behalf of Jordan, I thank you all for your presence here, for having invested your time, your experiences and your tangible support at the service of the rights of the disabled.
I would also like to express my deep appreciation to Germany and the international coalition for disability, and they are Jordan’s partners at this third world summit for disabled people. I particularly thank the Chancellor, the German people and their government for the generosity of hospitality.
My friends,
All the countries today, from the wealthiest to the poorest, face a challenge to preserve the rights of our disabled brothers and sisters. The most important role in success in this area is the responsibility of the community of disabled people. Your knowledge -based work and experience can make a big difference in the lives of others.
But this responsibility is not the only responsibility. Here at this summit, and in all the next few days, we have to work together, and we must commit ourselves, and we must take measures to ensure that everyone lives their life with dignity, happiness and hope.
Comfort is not limited to guaranteeing the possibility of disabled people reaching various facilities, but also includes recognition of the potential inherent in each human being and the supply of the environment in which everyone can contribute.
My friends,
I am proud of the generations of loyal Jordanians who continue to work to support the rights of people with disabilities.
Jordan was one of the first signatories of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and we have changed our Constitution in accordance with the principles of dignity and respect, and we have fundamental legislation to support the rights of disabled people, and national strategies are also focused on improving access, independent life and programs programs.
Jordan includes one of the main centers in the region which focuses on early intervention, private education and professional rehabilitation for people with simple and means mental disorders, and it is also a pioneering center in the field of care for young people with learning difficulties.
We have also recently created the Royal Academy for Product Education to make a real change in education.
Reaching these objectives requires working at the level of government and society, in addition to international cooperation, as our meetings today.
I would like to congratulate more than 80 Jordanian public and private institutions, have made concrete obligations to this summit.
Have we done enough? We still have a lot of work to allow all Jordanians disabled to easily move in schools, stores and voting centers, to obtain good jobs and to live independently, and to have acceptance, respect and love.
My friends,
Let me say that our responsibility and our response at the international level are particularly important for those who live in areas of conflict and that people with disabilities are more threatened in these areas, which increases the importance of working to achieve peace, peace with justice. For this reason, it is also not possible to postpone or delay humanitarian work.
The situation in Gaza is a painful example. Today, in Gaza, there are the largest number of children amputated in the world for the number of populations, as well as a large number of adults. Medical installations have been destroyed and an urgent need is necessary to reconsider traditional methods.
Last fall, Royal Jordanian medical services sent two mobile clinics to Gaza to which a Jordanian medical team is working. Thanks to the diagnosis of children, and thanks to electronic consultations to communicate with doctors and technicians, we attended the installation of the first artificial joint of children in the Mobile Clinical Truck.
Until now, more than 400 people of amputees, including children, have benefited and have acquired new hope. And behind all these figures, there is an invaluable face, story and life. The beneficiaries of these parties returned to their families, and we are very proud of the Jordanian doctors and technicians who answered this call.
We call this initiative to “restore hope”, and here at this world summit for disabled people, we ask you while you are the pioneers of the defense of the rights of disabled people, to join us to restore hope for the inhabitants of Gaza and other threats in the world.
Thanks to the initiative to restore hope, we have proven that leadership, sympathy and innovation thrive in the darkest and most difficult circumstances.
My friends,
Wherever a challenge is honest, our strengths and capacities become a key to our progress, and that is what people with disabilities have proven again and again in the whole world.
This is the challenge that we are seized at this summit: to look beyond the available, and imagine what it could, and have the courage to fill this gap between them, to restore hope, not only in words, but also to acts.
Together, we can open a new door to the future, a future in which disabled people have the rights, encouragement and respect they deserve. Let’s honor them with the achievements we make.
Thank you all “.
The Jordanian delegation of the Summit included her Highness Prince Marad Bin Raad, chief trustee of the royal court of Hashemite, president of the supreme council for the rights of the disabled, vice-prime minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Al-Safadi, Director of the office of His Majesty the King, Eng.
