If your PlayStation 5 library starts to explode in layers, the upgrade with one of the best SSDs for your PlayStation 5 can make a big difference. Modern PS5 games are huge, and although the interior storage of the console, it is filled quickly-especially if you wander in large titles such as Call of Duty, Spider-Man 2 or Fantasy XVI. The compatible SSD gives you more space without sacrificing pregnancy or performance times, so you can spend less time running your library and more time in games.
It is easy to install many SSD drives and implement them at the same speed as the storage in PS5. You will want to search for drives that meet the Sony specifications, including Gen4 speeds and cooling the integrated heat (or the ability to add one). Whether you are after tons of storage for your digital group or just want to increase the performance of the next generation, we have collected the best SSD options to suit every need and budget.

How to test PS5 SSDs
Most of the recommended SSDs have tested in this list, either to use PS5 or use the computer. I also bought and used the best selection in my PS5.
PS5 SSD common questions
How storing the PS5 I need?
PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro Interior drives can be accepted with between 250 GB and 8 TB of storage capacity. If you already have a PS5, you may have a reasonable idea of the storage amount you need for your game library. If you buy SSD with a new PS5 or PS5 Pro, or buy another person, it is difficult to know what you may need to experience a high performance.
PS5 games are smaller on average of their PS4 equations, usually between 30 GB and 100 GB, with some prominent exceptions (and very popular). If you are a fan of the Call of Duty series, install Black OPS 6 and Warzone 2.0 You can eat up to 240 GB. In other words, it will take more than a third of the PS5 internal storage. If you are not a fan of COD, though, you’ll be likely to be good in storing between six to 10 games on PS5 regularly before facing problems.
You also need to think about your internet speed. If you live in an area with a slow wide range, the logical basis “you can just download it again” does not really work. In my old house, it took about 100 GB to eight hours, and during this period it was difficult to see Twitch simultaneously, for example, publishing articles on the upgrade of SSDS PS5. Keeping games abroad will need to play them at some point.

Outside the bats, there is mainly no feasibility of getting 250 GB PS5 SSD. Economically, 250 GB tablets are not cheaper than 500 GB – and practically, this is not a large space in modern games to live on. 500 GB drives can be a decent option, but after years of low prices, I think the sweet spot for most people is to choose a 1 TB or 2 TB tablet, which should run you at least $ 200. The latter will increase the weakness of the PS5 Pro storage without breaking the bank.
Unless you are trading criticism and want to get 4TB and 8 TB models, you will eventually end up paying more for each GB what you do with the 1 TB or 2 TB tablets.
While the PS5 825 GB provides only 667 GB of storage, this is largely due to the storage dedicated to the operating and temporary storage system. If you installed 1 TBS5 SSD, you will have, within a mistake, 1 terabyte from the available games. Outside the box, the PS5 Pro provides a storage 1.86 TB toy, although you can go out more if you delete the pre -installed ASTRO game room (GASP).
Since the PS5 Slim or the updated PS5 Slim or PS5 Pro, all our recommendations will work with any PS5 model you have.
Can you play PS5 games on external SSD?
External hard drives tend to cost less than their SSD (and there is a good opportunity you may already own). Unfortunately, there are restrictions on what you can do with them. The external SSD is connected to your PS5 via USB, which is only suitable for playing PlayStation 4 games, or storing PS5 addresses. This is useful if you have anything but the best high-speed internet-the fastest transfer of PS5 game from “cold storage” on an external drive more than re-download-or want to keep your PS4 library.
Due to the restrictions here, you do not need a higher performance model, although you should choose SSDS on hard drives to improve transportation speeds and loading times. Any basic mobile engine of a good reputation brand will do, with the fact that X9 Pro and Samsung T7 are the options we have tried and we can recommend.
What are the SSD cards compatible with PS5?
the Official answer To this question is “Society 3 (Key M) Gen4 x4 NVME SSD. But even in this specific description, there are additional factors that must be taken into account. The main requirements made by Sony to comply with speed, cooling and physical dimensions.
For speed, Sony says that drives should be able to deal with serial readings at 5500 MB/s. Early test showed that the PS5 will accept slow drives of 4800MB/s, and that games that benefit from SSD regularly – like RATCHET & Clank: Rift Sparle – It will not cause any problems. To a large extent, the only thing PS5 will explicitly reject is the one that does not match the specifications of Gen4 X4.
In our opinion, though, using a slower driver of specifications is a danger, if you do not already have this drive, it is not worth taking. Just because we did not find problems, but it does not mean that there will be no games that may be a problem in the future. The price difference between the slow Gen4 engines is marginalized and those that meet the Sony specifications are not huge, and it may cover all your rules as well.
A little more complicated by speed is cooling and size. Most of the new SSDS will be fine; PS5 SSDS can suit approximately 22 mm of any length (30 mm, 40 mm, 60 mm, 80 mm or 110 mm, to be accurate). The vast majority of the drives you find with a width of 22 mm and 80 mm long, so there is no problem.
It should be noted that the system can fit 25 mm cross drive, but this width should include a cooling solution. Talking about, Sony says SSDS requires “an effective heat harms with a cooling structure, such as the cooling room.” The maximum height supported by Sony is 11.25 mm, of which only 2.45 mm can be the “drive”.
This means previously that some of Corsair’s SSDS Gen4 is the most trading, including the Corsair MP600 Pro LP, will not suit the PS5 storage expansion slot. Since the first time in 2021, most of the NVME makers, including Samsung, came out with special PlayStation models that meet those requirements. However, if you want to save some money, the naked drives are often cheaper and it is trivial to find a cooling solution that works with the PS5.
The only component in NVME SSD that really requires cooling is the console, which without the switching room will work happily (very small). Most SSDS contains chips on only one side, but even in two sides, the console is likely to be the top, as manufacturers know that it should be placed there to better waste the heat.
Therefore, go to your computer’s favorite component seller and pick up anything that meets the recommended dimensions. The term good search is a “NVME TheADONK” laptop, where this will be designed to suit the boundaries of the gameplay devices for games, which are more restricted than the PS5. It is also the usually cheaper than the name “Des5 Andraidshs”.
One recommendation is this $ 6 copperAttached to the PS5 SSD with a sticky thermal facade. It works well, and in performing stress tests on a computer, we could not find anything that does not maintain temperatures under control. When searching, just make sure that the solution is no more than 25 mm or a length of 8 mm (including the thermal facade) and has a simple method of installation that will not cause any headache.
Last thing: When shopping for PS5 NVME, there is no reason to buy the Gen5 model on the more affordable Gen4 model. Since things are standing, the Sony control unit cannot take advantage of the new standard, and although the Gen5 engines are compatible with it, it is more expensive than its Gen4 counterparts. Just buy the fastest and highest Gen4 model you can tolerate.
