Castilla Y León Film Library converts the large screen again to a forum for discussion with a program that goes beyond pure entertainment. During the second half of March, the Foundation will offer courses dedicated to the economy, the law and a tribute to director David Lynch, as it combines the dropping of films and the symposium responsible for experts from the University of Salamanca. These sessions not only allow the audience to enjoy great titles, but also generate space to analyze the main issues of our society from the movie’s publication.

From IV, Cineco, who will address the influence of the company and technology on the global economy, appear to the sixth legal clinical session, which focuses on the rights of migrants, and the film library confirms its profession with information. In addition, The Retrospective for David Lynch’s first short films, who recently died, will provide a unique opportunity to enter the creative assets of the distinguished director. With free access until the capacity is completed, these proposals call the viewer to look beyond the screen and immerse themselves in the cultural debate.

Cinema and Economics: Three films to understand the business world

The fourth Cineco course, which was organized in cooperation with the Faculty of Economics and the Business of the University of Salama, raises three main issues through cinema: businessman number, data use by companies and the impact of statistics on decision -making.

■ Tuesday, March 18 – “Founder”

Is the businessman hero or evil? The story of Ray Crook and the creation of the McDonald’s Empire is a starting point for this debate, which Elissa Potila Rodriguez will present, a professor of history and economic institutions at USAL.

■ Wednesday, March 19 – The Social Network

David Fincher’s movie about Facebook Create Question: To what extent to which companies know their customers? A topic that would analyze álvaro Garrido Morgado, professor of marketing research and market research at USAL.

■ Thursday, March 20 – «MoneyBall: Breaking the Rules»

Basebols and statistics in this film starring Brad Pitt, which explores how data can change the way decisions are made in sports … and in life. The session will be guided by Anna Beilin Nieito Lido, Professor of Statistics and Operating Research at USAL.

Cinema and Law: Immigration to the discussion

The Legal Clinic of Social Work of the Faculty of Law offers a new edition of its session in cooperation with Filmoteca. This year, immigration is the main theme, with the drop of “Salto” (2024), by Benito Zambrano.

Monday, March 24 – “Salto”

This drama, which tells the story of Ibrahim, a young man who was deported from Spain to Guinea Conakry and his struggle for return, intends to bring the viewer closer to the harsh reality of migration. After the movie, the teacher and coordinator Nour Olao Gomez, students Laura Morel Rodriguez and Mª Pilar Fierro Clavijo will reduce the symposium.

David Lynch: Film director is not repeated

On January 15, David Lynch, one of the most influential figures, died of contemporary cinema. In an unambiguous manner, explore the director of “Twin Peaks” and “Mulholland Drive” and the dream that no one. To honor, the film library organized a special session with some of its first short films, where its annoying and wonderful world had already been a glimpse.

Five of his most experimental works, accompanied by the Lynch himself will be displayed in the original translated version:

• “Six sick men” (1966): his first deficiency, as the animated human figures vomit in an endless episode.

• “The alphabet” (1968): A disturbing short dependent on a real nightmare.

• “La Grandmother” (1970): a surreal myth for a child who resorted to his imagination to escape violence.

• “The Putted One” (1974): She was filmed in the video, a woman appears without legs while selling her trunks.

• “Lumière” (1995): It was filmed with the original film photographer of Lumière brothers, it is an exercise with a maximum of 52 seconds.

Through this choice, Filmoteca invites you to discover the origins of Lynch’s genius, whose influence remains in a mark on the current cinema.
