The University of Salamanca becomes a leader in the academic edition of direct access to the unification of its international projection in the field of academic editorial with the inclusion of 13 scientific journals in the SCIMAGO magazine (SJR) classification 2024, one of the most recognized impact indicators around the world.
In this last call, Ediciones Universidad de Salamanca has reached a wonderful presence, specifically, 4 magazines were placed in the Quarter of Q1 (higher), 3 in Q2, 6 in Q3 and other than in the fourth quarter. Among the best topical titles, “Studia Historica, Middle Ages”, “Education theory. Interunivesity and “Zephyrus”, all of which are located in Q1, which reflects its importance within international scientific production.
According to the SRJ classification, the estimated market value of these magazines exceeds 13 $ 3 million. This number depends on the average cost of publishing in commercial publishers, which is about $ 2,400 per article. In the face of this model, the University of Salamanca maintains its fixed commitment to an open access version in the diamond method, a system that eliminates the economic barriers of both authors and readers.
Open access, scientific quality and institutional commitment
Currently, the academic magazines at the University of Publica 34 in open access, which belong to very diverse areas of knowledge such as humanities, social sciences, health sciences, education or law, among other things, are all available in Portal.usal.es.
In addition, it is planned that in the coming months three new magazines will be merged, which increases the expansion of the catalog and its academic impact. This international projection is added to the national recognition, as 17 publications have so far obtained a Vecyt seal, a dependence that evaluates the editorial rigor, vision and scientific influence of publications. Nowadays, Ediciones Universidad de Salamanca magazines continue to present itself to this hard evaluation, which shows a continuous commitment to improvement and written excellence.
