The public company Salamanca today called on the Ministry of Health Castilla Y León “immediate and effective measures” to avoid “verbal attacks and physical threats” in various health centers in the capital of Salanka.
Therefore, this union submitted a complaint to the ministry, in which the cases of attacks that occurred and alerted the “superficial and temporal” measures adopted by the regional government were reported.
In a statement sent to ICAL, the Federation looked at the “abandonment of jobs” by the administration constitutes a “clear neglect” in fulfilling its obligations to ensure the security of employees, which “violates the rights of workers.”
Looking at the increase in these attacks and coercion, such as those reported by the Casto Brito Health Center, the Federation insisted on taking measures to ensure a “safe work environment” for all health professionals, including the perpetuation of security personnel. It has also requested that awareness campaigns aim to raise awareness of the importance of respect and sufficient treatment towards health workers, as well as “periodic reviews of health workers’ working conditions.
The Federation added: “The administration assumes its responsibility for abandoning jobs, neglecting and violating the law to prevent professional risks, through which it is committed to ensuring the safety and health of health employees in their work.”
For public UGT services, Salamanca is “completely unacceptable” that workers in the health sector “remain victims of assault and threats during their work”, so “the administration must actively act, and the necessary measures are taken until these violence is dealt with as a public health attack, ensuring the correct safety and saving medical services.”
